  • Simplicity and discipline

The aim of the second module is to start to integrate some of the tools of learning and growth, as well as understanding why we react in the ways that we do, often with unintended and unwanted results for ourselves and others.

Much of our efforts throughout this programme are focussed on developing what is known as witness consciousness; an experiential state where we are able to 'stand back' and witness our thoughts and feelings without becoming hooked into the dramas of the situation. An element of developing this way of being is recognising that our breakdowns and upsets can be powerful sources of insight and growth. When we pay attention to those upsetting situations in our lives that we try to avoid, and yet so often seem to attract, we may well notice a pattern that was previously unseen.

Given that much of our behaviour is patterned and conditioned habitually, we can then begin to understand why, how, where and when we created the pattern. And, how such patterning and learning occurs from a neuroscience perspective. Such insight can then be brought into situations that would ordinarily trigger default behavioural reactions and different responses can be chosen. Of course, learning never happens so straightforwardly, and yet with the commitment to learn and ongoing practice, new responses will happen.

During this module we will also continue to free up our attention and energy by the practice of simplifying our lives. Your physical environment will start to look clearer and less cluttered.

This module is about developing new ways of being and seeing new things showing up.
