The aim of the fourth module is to reconnect with our bodies, the physical part of ourselves that we tend to dissociate from over the years and in many ways pay less attention to than is optimal.
We will become very familiar with how our psychology is mirrored in our physiology. How all of our experiences and behavioural patterns are actually stored in our bodies; our posture, the way we move, the way we interact physically with others, as well as our exercise regime, the food we eat and even the way we eat it. We are usually either unaware, unconscious, or in denial of this aspect of ourselves.
Through specific readings, assignments and reflection we will reunite with our physical bodies again, become aware of what is required for better health, and start to integrate some new habits into our lives. It will be strongly recommended that participants have a full medical check up at this stage and conduct an audit of their dietary habits.
We will also examine and consider a number of different physical development and movement activities with a view to identifying the most suitable for them to integrate as a daily practice. This could take any form. For example: yoga, pilates, walking, running, circuit training, a team sport, swimming, tai chi, qi gong, or simply stretching. The important thing is that we enjoy it and practice regularly.
As this aspect of ourselves comes into alignment, we will free up more energy for what we most want to focus our attention on, as well as expand our awareness of our physical presence in the world. A solid foundation of physical health will help us in all the other areas of life.
Again, this module is about embedding some more new habits.
